Meet Priya Chikani, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Priya’s journey into physiotherapy started with curiosity.

Not just “Where does it hurt?” but “Why is this happening in the first place?”

That question has followed her throughout her career and continues to shape the way she treats today.

Priya completed her physiotherapy degree in India, where she developed a strong foundation in movement, rehabilitation, anatomy, and hands-on care. As her clinical experience grew, she became increasingly interested in pelvic health—an area where symptoms are often complex, deeply personal, and rarely connected to just one part of the body.

That curiosity led her to pursue further education in pelvic health. Over the years, Priya has completed additional training in areas such as pelvic health physiotherapy, pelvic pain, pregnancy, postpartum rehabilitation, pessary assessment and management, bowel health, and other pelvic floor concerns.

But for Priya, education has never been something that ends with a certificate.

Her personal motto is simple:

“Keep learning. Keep questioning. Keep growing.”

She continues to attend professional education programs, pelvic health courses, and “national and international conferences”, staying connected with emerging research and evolving approaches in pelvic health physiotherapy.

What makes Priya’s approach different is that she does not like to chase symptoms.

A painful hip may not always begin at the hip. Pelvic pain may involve much more than the pelvic floor. Bladder, bowel, pregnancy, postpartum, or intimacy concerns can often be influenced by movement, breathing, muscle coordination, nervous system responses, lifestyle, and the way the whole body works together.

That is why Priya believes in whole-body care.

Instead of asking only, “How do we make this symptom disappear?” she likes to understand the bigger picture—how your body moves, what has changed, what matters to you, and what may be contributing to the problem.

She also believes that good healthcare should never feel like something being done to a patient. Her goal is to make people feel comfortable asking questions, understanding their bodies, and becoming an active part of their own care.

Outside the clinic, Priya wears many hats.

She is a physiotherapist, wife, daughter, mentor, student, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner—and she believes each of those roles continues to shape the person and clinician she is becoming.

She loves meeting new people, learning about entrepreneurship, exploring new ideas, and spending meaningful time with her family. And when life becomes busy, she also values something many of us forget to prioritize: giving herself time to slow down, recharge, plan a little escape, and travel with her husband.

For Priya, becoming a better physiotherapist is an ongoing journey.

There is always another question to ask, another piece of research to explore, and another person whose story deserves to be heard.

And that is the kind of care she hopes to bring to every person who walks through the doors at PELORAA.
